Getting to Know Your Hairstylist

One of the important people in your life could very well be your hairstylist. This is a person that you are placing a great deal of responsibility on when it comes to your appearance – specifically with your hairdo. Don’t feel that when you attend your salon that you have to take whatever stylist is available at the time.

If this is your first time visiting a salon then you may want to try each stylist before you make your final decision on the one who suits you the best. You have the right to do this as a patron – which is something that a lot of people tend to skip on, just settling for anyone who’s available. What can happen is that they won’t be, of course, happy with the stylist that is been assigned to them. Rather then return to try someone else they simply will not return to the business at all.

By trying out the different stylists you can decide which one performs the best for you, and the one you feel the most compatible with. During this testing phase don’t be afraid to ask questions about their experience and their background: consider this as a “rite of passage”.

Not only do you want your stylist to have the skills to perform the type of work that you are expecting, but you also want to have one that is going to listen to what your desires are. If you end up with the stylist that is over-opinionated or is not taking your wants and needs into consideration, then there is a good chance you are not going to be happy with the final outcome.

You also want to get an idea of this person’s work ethics in knowing that they are going to be working regular hours and be available for when you want to book your appointments. If they are only working part-time or sporadically it can be difficult to form some type of relationship with them, and again you may have to settle for second best. Why would you want that for yourself?
